She was struck by the generosity of the hundreds of supporters who nonetheless donated generously. As funds continue to flow in, the target has now been raised to £10,500.

“He is survived by his two younger brothers and a little sister. The money raised will be used to give them a little extra Christmas present from their adorable big sister this year. For his friends, I want to get a tree and a plaque in memory of Brogen (an idea that came from his friends) and the remaining funds will be given to his family to help with his funeral.”

A follower said: “I remember Brogan was born about three months after my daughter. When I heard this sad news, I felt sick. I send you lots of love and strength.”

Another said: “Thoughts are with the family at this difficult time. My son was in the same class and he left a huge hole in the lives of all Brogen’s classmates.”
