Brooklyn Subway Shove Incident
Friday afternoon’s vicious attack that left Martin injured and beaten is the latest example of the Big Apple’s recent spike in traffic crime.
On Sunday, Martin’s mother, Audrey, told the Post that her son was blinded by the shocking attack, which was filmed at around 2:40 p.m. at the Wycoff and Myrtle Avenue train station.
Surveillance footage shows the stalker waiting on the other side of the platform, then attacking Martin, pushing him onto the tracks before fleeing.
Martin’s mother said the attack upset her son so much that he didn’t want to come home.
“He’s in a lot of pain,” Audrey Martin said.
“His shoulder is completely shot. His back is completely shot. His armpit is completely shot up.”
“I can’t get him out of the house,” he said.
“He can’t go to bed, he can’t get out of bed.”
He said the family’s crisis is that their son has no health insurance.
Arrested
Sources say the Queens Warrants Squad arrested the 41-year-old suspect near his home in Brooklyn on Monday.
Relatives told the Post they were tired of McRae’s antics and ended up putting up a sign on the stairwell of his Brooklyn apartment building, urging anyone who saw him to call the police.
“If you see a black guy sleeping [sic] in the hallway call the police, he’s raping,” the sign reads.”
McRae’s cousin said the last straw for the family came when he allegedly stole $50 from them.
Police Investigation Report
McRae was charged with baselessly assaulting David Martin, who was waiting for an L train to go to work at a trendy Manhattan restaurant when he blew himself up, police and his family said.
McRae has already served nearly two decades in prison for a 1997 attempted murder and robbery in the Bronx, committed when he was about 17, according to sources and police records. He was paroled in the case in May 2018.
The suspect was arrested for the crime just before 11:30 a.m. last week Monday and charged with attempted murder, assault, negligent endangerment, and stalking. He was due to be arrested Monday night.
