Beginning Of The First Period Of Heavy Monsoon Rains This Week
Wet currents from the Arabian Sea and Bay of Bengal are expected to enter the upper parts of the country from Wednesday, June 29, which could strengthen and spread to southern parts of the country by the end of the week, according to the Pakistan Meteorological Department ( PMD) predicted.
According to the latest PMD advisory, under the influence of these currents, heavy rains accompanied by gusty winds and thunderstorms are expected in Islamabad, Azad Jammu, and Kashmir (AJK), Gilgit Baltistan, and Punjab from Thursday, June 30th to Monday, June 4th. expected in July.
Heavy rain accompanied by gusty winds and thunderstorms is expected in Sindh and Balochistan from Friday 1st July to Tuesday 5th July.
Urban flooding is expected in Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Lahore, Gujranwala, Sialkot, and Faisalabad from Saturday 2nd July to Monday 4th July. The same is planned for Karachi and Hyderabad from Sunday 3 July to Tuesday 5 July. Anglers are advised to remain vigilant due to poor sea conditions during this time.

Flash floods are expected in AJK, Khuzdar, Lasbella, Naseerabad, Awaran, Barkhan, and Kohlu during the forecast period. Landslides are expected in AJK, Galliyat, and Murree. Tourists are advised to exercise caution during the forecast period.
The prevailing extremely hot weather is expected to abate over the forecast period. The rain will benefit the rice plantations. All provincial disaster management agencies (PDMA) have been urged to remain vigilant to prevent loss of life and property during the forecast period.
