Prince Harry and Meghan ‘disappoint’ the Queen and Prince Philip ahead of royal outing
The Queen and Prince Philip were reportedly “disappointed” with Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s absence from an important family event, a royal expert claimed.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex, who stepped down as royals in 2020 and relocated to the United States, spent a lengthy Christmas break in Canada before their departure.
Columnist and royal expert Richard Kay told the 2022 Channel 5 documentary Harry & Meghan Vs The Monarchy: “Christmas is a very, very important part of the Queen’s calendar. He likes to draw his family around him.”
“You and Prince Philip were growing old. They knew there wouldn’t be too many Christmases and they must have been disappointed.”

Relationship psychologist Anjula Muntanda suggested the Sussexes may have wanted to step back from a situation they found “difficult and painful”.
Discussing the couple’s six-week hiatus, Ms Muntanda said: “What you sometimes do psychologically for yourself is move away from a situation you find difficult and painful and put yourself in a space that you believe that it could be more enriching and safe and secure.”
