James Davis III is a Chicago man accused of holding 80-year-old Denyse Holt against her will during a home invasion in the northern suburb of Lincolnwood on Sunday.
He was charged with breaking into a home on the 4600 block of Morse Avenue and forcing the 80-year-old owner into a basement bathroom with a pair of scissors, Lincolnwood Police said.

What Was The Incident?
The woman’s daughter called the police for a welfare check after contacting her mother.
Arrive around 9:40pm. M., the officers at the scene found a broken window on the first floor of the house and blood. Police found the woman, unharmed, behind a locked basement door. They took her outside to a safe place.
Police then found Davis in a second-story bedroom, armed with multiple knives, police said.
Police attempted to use a taser on Davis but were unsuccessful. The Northern Illinois Police Department Regional Alert Systems team was alerted to the barricade situation and attempted to take Davis into custody, police said.
Davis was eventually arrested just before 3 a.m. From Monday.
He was taken to a local hospital for medical treatment before being charged by Lincolnwood Police Department detectives, police said.

Charged
Davis was charged with home invasion with a dangerous weapon, aggravated kidnapping with a dangerous weapon, and aggravated assault on a peace officer, police said.
Further investigation revealed Davis had a mental health episode early Sunday morning before breaking into the woman’s home, police said.
Davis, armed with scissors, woke the woman and threatened her before rounding up all the phones in the house and locking her in the basement.
