Marinella Beretta, an Italian woman with no known relatives, was found dead at her home, where she had been dead for two years.
Beretta was found at her deceased’s table in Prestino near Lake Como on Friday, according to Agence France-Presse. Police found the woman’s remains after making a home visit about her neglected trees, which risked being uprooted in high winds to become the area.

The Italian Minister for Family and Equal Opportunities, Elena Bonetti, recalled that remembering Beretta’s life “is the duty of a community that wants to remain united”.
“What happened to Marinella Beretta in Como, the forgotten loneliness, our conscience hurts,” he said.
