Latest Helicopter Drone With Facebook Internet Streaming

Facebook wants the internet to be accessible to everyone in the world. As part of his mission, he also created a miniature unmanned helicopter.

The truth is, the more people have access to the internet, the more people will log into Facebook.

Facebook understandably wants to bring the Internet to all corners of the world. So far it has offered a webcast drone, and the latest drone looks like a little helicopter.

It was unveiled at Facebook’s F8 developer conference in San Jose, California. It’s called Tether-tenna and is supposed to help people in crisis situations and to provide the Internet.

It’s tied with a fiber optic cable that is connected to a landline internet connection and uses radio waves to send the internet to people who need it during a disaster.

Tether-tenna is currently in the research phase. However, it is clear that Facebook is using it as a signal booster, similar to a Wi-Fi range extender, but instead of the home internet, it is being sent to people in need in underdeveloped countries.

Facebook said in a blog post that it could “allow a local community to stay connected while terrestrial connectivity is mended”.

So if the internet is destroyed by an earthquake, tsunami, or landslide anywhere in the world, these helicopters could be dispatched to save the day.

As per Facebook, however, it has not yet been used in an emergency.

Facebook noted that the company still has many obstacles to overcome, including the ability to withstand extremely high winds and prevent things like lightning. However, Tether’s Einsatztennas could be “in a few years”.
