Mahjabin Hakimi was an Afghan volleyball player who was beheaded by Taliban fighters. They posted photos of his decapitated head on social media.
A coach of the women’s team confirmed that Hakimi was killed by the Taliban earlier this month.

As per the Persian Independent, the gruesome death was only recently made public because insurgents threatened the girl’s family not to tell anyone what had happened.
When photos of Mahjabin’s severed head were posted on social media, his trainer decided to speak out.
“All the players on the volleyball team and the rest of the athletes are in dire straits, desperate and scared,” said the coach.
“They were all forced to flee and live in unknown places.”
Before the Taliban took power in late August, Mahjabin played for the Kabul Municipality Volleyball Club.
What Was The Coach’s Statement?
The coach, who declined to be named, said only two girls escaped from the squad and Mahjabin was among the girls left behind.
In September, players from the Afghan national volleyball team said they were hiding from insurgents.
Zahra Fayazi, who fled to the UK in August, said the Taliban killed a member of the team.
“Our players who lived in the provinces had to live elsewhere,” he told the BBC.
“They even burned their exercise equipment to save themselves and their families. They didn’t want them to keep anything exercise-related. You are scared.”
“Many of our provincial players have been threatened on several occasions by their relatives who are Taliban and supporters of the Taliban.”

“The Taliban have asked the families of our players not to let their daughters play because they would otherwise be exposed to unexpected violence.”
Since the Taliban took power in Afghanistan, they have claimed they will not enforce the strict and oppressive laws of the 1990s, when women were largely excluded from education and work.
The Taliban Education Authority announced that women would be allowed to attend university this time around.
